This years sluice rodeo went off on the 20th of May. And I must say I felt it went of great considering the circumstances. This rodeo was primarily aimed at those who wanted a fun rodeo without the pressures associated with the national ranking events. It has to be said that there were more new faces than old ones at this rodeo and for this I was glad, thanks guys for turning up it is great to see new faces in the sport once more.

Now down to business. The event was based on a score sheet made up by myself and based on the Euro rules and then with a few fun moves lashed in the mix. This nicely tweaked score sheet kept the scores high and spirits even higher. There was an abundance of rail grabs, shudder rudders and over exceeded waving at the judges. There were enough entrants to run all the classes and we even had a Junior woman which I know is rare. Although due to the small numbers in some categories we went straight into super finals.

All classes saw good use of the score sheet and more importantly it seemed that everybody was having a good bit of banter. Again Id like to thank you for coming, I would also like to say a special thanks to Mark in Munster Dive & Canoe for supplying prizes, Conor Ryan from the Irish Canoe Union for helping me get the water at such short notice, and of course the parkies for letting us in.
