Tin,

I've had one of these for last few years,  I do find it a problem when i loop sometimes the peak catches for a bit of whiplash style action! Not too much fun but its rare enough event!

I've heard all of the stuff about if you take a front on hit to the peak that it transfers all of the force to the back of your neck and does lots of damage. I've been lucky enoughnot to have to put this to the test.

Over all for a general all use lid play, rivers, surf but perhaps not super steep creaking you can't go too far wrong. super tough , super comphy and they don't look half bad either. I know peakuk offer something like the strutter for a fraction of the price.

For that amount of money you're better off getting the other sweet helments that cover more of your head.

I am looking getting a FNA helmet, far less money similar idea...  kevlar helmet.

I have one, and I've caught the peak in Clifden hole a couple of times when I was learning what a hole was all about. I wasn't injured from that, I just felt the force of the water catch the peak and it was a distraction. Not fun but not painful. Though that said it would make sense that enough force might cause injury, so someone who does more serious paddling might have a better viewpoint. For what I do it's a comfortable helmet and suits me fine. Whether I would recommend it or not would depend on who the paddler was and the type of paddling they're into.

This gets debated online constantly. What if the peak catches a branch, rock, etc.? I've yet to hear from anyone who's actually injured themselves with a Strutter.

The helmet from Peak UK is probably the Predator Lee. Looks the same as the Strutter, but isn't made from the same materials, hence the radical price difference.

I've one and never found it a problem in fact that peak prob saved me a broken nose once. I made a bags of the dargle falls once (well more than once) completly missed my boof stroke and pitoned verticlally resulting in a sudden stop. Due to shitty body position I slammed into the deck face first. The peak did a job for me that day.

Only problem I have with them is the high price.
