hmm.. possible not the perfect alternative sport.. injuryies n the going biking over paddling are kinda problems!
I know I'm slaggin the lycra clan a bit in the poll but hidden behind the this baggy attired free rider is a decent bit of envy. Man if I could climb like some of those dudes I'd be happy.
Last year I bumped in to a Lycra clad legend of Irish Kayaking who smoked us up the steep fire-road on the Ballyedmund side of 3rock. I'm not going to name him but gaylord was not the name the sprung to mind at the time.
I see by the poll 20% of the folks who voted want me banned (probably for more reasons than this poll) 
So as not to actually get banned I not suggesting starting up the "Irish Freestyle Mountain Bike Club" but how would ye feel about organising a paddlers "social spin"
It would be open to all from DH, FR, XC sure come on your sisters bike with the sparkly tassels on if ya want.
I'm thinking something for everyone and to be ridden in conversational gear.
Maybe during the next decent dry spell ( or this one even )

Option 1 isn't very PC... actually i doubt you'd find any gay guy in lycra on a mtn bike, think they'd have more style, maybe pervy might be a better word.... Mtn biking should be done in baggies, and lycra should be banned full stop... Mtn biking is great fun, those that vote option 1 obvously haven't tired it or are unfit guys which would whezz going downhill and have a heart attack if they even tought about going up one!
Decided I'd stick this up seeing as I seem to be meeting a lot more paddlers on mountain bikes out on the trails than I am on a river these days.
Would love to get an idea of how many paddlers mountain bike as an alternative when its dry ?
