Little by little

Little by little we're getting more and more info from organisers by e-mail. There is a new website finally up but its only in Spanish for now (they hope to have an English version up within 2 days).

Thats the main update for todays' blog, read on for the more mundane ramblings...

Today we got up, went hunting for a supermarket for breakfast. I got in a sneaky swim for my tri training before dropping the Chrysler back to the car rental place and had it replaced with a more economical Citroen C3 which will be used to ferry people to and from the wave as needed. The accomodation is located up-river about a kilometer from the feature which means a soul-destroying paddle back against the current or walk along with your boat on your shoulder so we decided to get a small car for the trip rather than do the walk every day. Thats one of the problems with Google maps. Its great and all but it doesn't quite give a great impression of the lie of the land. I know there is a terrain feature but still. Maybe I should have checked out Google earth. Anyway its mucho hilly over here senores y senoras. The rest of the crew all went for a session on the wave while I sorted the car (and got in the shneaky swim).

In the PM I caught up with the guys in the newly rented wheels. At this stage they were taking a much needed siesta. Got off the river and back at the appartment for 8:30pm. We've bought pots and pans and are now cooking for ourselves in the 'apartementos' thus solving the problem of the Spannish eating timeplan which is totally messed up for the record. See yesterdays' blog entry where we ended up getting  back from dinner at 12:30am.

The eddy was fairly full today at full tilt with a wait of about 8 minutes between rides due to a large contingent of Dutch paddlers arriving down, one Remi Wegman, even tried to surf the wave with a surf-board but couldn't quite catch it.

I'll sign off this entry with the only photo I took today of senior team member Jim Kehoe showing his general approval in front of the feature with the Millenium bridge in the background. I asked him to give the thumps up cos the smile just wasn't cutting it. Theres a bunch of Irish juniors on the rocks on the left, the guy with no shirt (team GBR I think) was lying out in the sun practically all day and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in the A&E by the end of it. The sun is setting behind and to the left of the camera, hence the not great lighting.
