I'm just posting this up without the details or the figures to back it up and its all hearsay at the moment as it just happened a couple of hours ago. Hopefully following the captains meeting I can supply some figures to back it all up.
I'm pleased to announce that both Siobhán and Kim are through to the womens semi finals on Friday. Unfortunately none of the senior men made it through. Siobhán had two soilid runs putting her in 4th position going into the semis and Kim also doing well in 8th. Its a great result for the ladies and for Ireland. The result showing how strong Irish female kayakers are on the international scene right now. Jackie missed out on the semis in 11th place (10 went through). Two Irish in the top 10 is a great result and we are looking forward to seeing them in the quarter finals on Friday.
In the mens I was told I came 21st suffering a similar fate to Jackie and narrowly missing out on a place in the quarter finals by 10 points (20 went through). I think Tim Harris was the next best placed Irish male. I'm not sure how the other Irish competitors placed yet so I'll post up the full results when I get them later today. Leonard had an early flush after a helix attempt in his first run and then went for broke in the second run with an entry move but flushed on this.
Junior mens and ladies still to come tomorrow.
