If you go to the video on youtube click on the stats tab, theres a google map of where abouts in Leixlip the spot is. I don't think the river is on the map but its within 300 meters of the marker on the map. Basically as you come in from the N4 from Dublin take the right hand turn which goes up the hill out of the village towards Confey then take a left at the top of the hill just before the school/church, follow that road down to the Rye and there she is...

After a epic trip this weekend including Clifden & Tuam we went up to the Rye hole this evening. Savage savage spot!
Just a word to people heading there not one for beginners or a place to be swimming as I'm sure it would be a lost cause chasing your boat down to the liffey.

I had posted it over in the river warnings section but may aswell post it here too.
Following freakish levels of rain at the weekend in North West Dublin and Co.Kildare the river Rye has burst its banks in certain areas. There are some up sides to this however (see video below
). Avoid snappy locals by using river right get in and get out only. River right get out is 150m downriver. Don't do like I do in the video (we're highly trained professionals 
) and seal launch off the private river left side of the river or risk getting beeped at for 5 seconds straight by some yuppie, late 20's, driving a navy Mercedes 4x4. Something about private property...how dare you...get out...never come back...I don't fo**ing care how far you have to walk around just stay off my private property or words to that effect. I think this kind of attitude goes back to the penal times when it was all about the land. I'm sure in his position I would be fairly pissed off too, but I wouldn't have dealt with it quite like that. Anyway the video...
Its been working since the video was shot and still is. Heading down tonight for a session.
