Palmerstown Weir
Folks,
Just a warning that there is some damage to the Palmerstown Weir on the Liffey, which all paddlers should be aware of. At the bottom of the weir, on the apex of the flood pan, some concrete has broken away leaving a hole and exposing some structural steel work for the weir.
This steel work is a potential hazard in low water and all paddlers should take care if they are shooting the weir. The concern is in the gap between the flood pan apex and the start of the standing wave.
Also, people shooting the weir in low volume boats (slalom, K-boats, etc.) wich are likely to dig deeper into the water during the drop than GP boats, maybe more prone to hitting the steel work.
Paddle Safe, paddle happy
